We first met freshmen year at Simpson College. We both were involved in choir at Simpson, and saw each other at Kappa Theta Psi, an inclusive fraternity on campus that Drew was a part of and I enjoyed hanging around. It wasn't until senior year, when the fraternity became gender neutral and I joined, that we got to know each other better and quickly became inseparable. We've lived together at Simpson (don't tell campus housing), our first 'real' apartment in Indianola, IA, and now live together with our two cats, Ollie and Violet, in Iowa City. In October of 2023, Drew proposed to me on a little trail after we explored the Devonian Fossil Gorge in Iowa City. It was perfect; alone, surrounded by beautiful trees and nature.

I first met Gizzy during my first year at Simpson College. We lived on the same floor, and I thought she was cute. I would see her each day in choir and occasionally in play and opera rehearsals. I always wanted to know her better, but she hung out with a friend group that I wasn’t a part of. When senior year came around, my fraternity had become gender-inclusive, and she joined. I immediately had eyes for her again, and, once she was single, I made my move. I threw an arm around her while everyone was watching a movie, and the rest was history. We moved in together quickly, got a couple of cat children, and moved to Iowa City where she pursues her dream and I support her. I proposed during a crisp fall afternoon on a secluded trail atop a beautiful metal bridge.
